Congruent figures
Congruent Figures are used in areas such as design, photography, building and art. They are also used to prove geometric properties and to solve practical problems.
Two shapes are congruent if they have exactly the same shape and size. Congruent means Identical. Two shapes are congruent when you can Turn, Flip and/or Slide one so it fits exactly on the other.
To test if two shapes are congruent move it to a position on top of the other so that the sides and angles match.

The symbol for ‘is congruent to’ is a special equals sign, which also means ‘is identical to’.
